New Workout Gear, For The New Year!
Happy New Year! This is my first blog post of 2021 and I thought workout wear would be appropriate. At the start of each new year, I feel like everyone scrambles to eat perfectly and workout an insane amount. I think that wears off around March, lol! I try to stay healthy and fit year-round. In college, around spring break, one of my Orange Theory coaches once said “Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready!” and since then, that has been a saying I try to live by! It’s much easier to stay healthy and keep up good habits throughout the year vs. cutting junk food cold turkey and hitting the gym completely out of shape (I can’t be the only one that thinks that right?). Life gets in the way and sometimes we can’t make it to the gym or eat exactly what we planned on but with small adjustments to our daily life, we can all stay on track! I used to have the mentality that if I ate poorly for one meal, my whole day was a bust so I might as well go all out. After years of this pattern, I realized that was so not the case and just because I splurged, I could reel it in and finish the day strong!
Another saying I live by is “Look good, feel good” and I find this to be so true! In tenth grade, I remember dressing up for finals week and my friends thought I was crazy and I told them “Look good, feel good”. I find that feeling put together makes me more productive! With that said, who doesn’t want to look good and feel good while working out? If you are taking the time to work out and take care of your body, you are allowed to reward yourself with a new workout outfit! When I commit to something, I go all in and some new workout pieces motivate me!
I have been loving two-piece sets and this set from Forever21 is the bomb! The leggings & sports bra are seamless and so comfortable! Recently, Forever21 released lots of new athletic wear (new year = high athletic wear sales) and I love all of the pieces! You cannot beat Forever21’s pricing and the variety of items they have released is awesome (linking in the widget below)! Not pictured is the matching jacket to the set I am wearing (I came across it after purchasing the set, but love it!), I am linking here!
If you are in need of new sneakers, you have to check these out! I used to be a runner (by a ‘runner’ I mean, 6-8 miles a week) and I was convinced I needed a sneaker with lots of ‘cushion’ if you will. I always wore these and loved them! I do struggle with getting really bad shin splints (had to wear a boot & do pt) so when I was looking at the On Clouds, I didn’t think they would be great for me but I was wrong! When I run long distances, I stick to my Hokas, but for short runs, walks, and studio training, I love my On Clouds! I have this style & this one (a little more cushion). This sneaker is a great investment & mine have held up for years.
At the beginning of the quarantine, I went on 3-5 mile walks every day and struggled to bring ‘all the things’ with me (aka- phone, keys, mask, hand sanitizer, AirPods, etc.) so I ordered this belt bag! I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but I snagged it on a major sale so that helped me justify. I cannot believe I thought I could possibly not like it, I am obsessed! I want to grab it in a few other colors! This belt bag is SO functional without making you look like a total dork, lol. If I am running, I will wear it as a classic ‘fanny pack’ would be worn but slide the ‘pack’ part to my backside so it doesn’t flop around in the front. When I use it for hiking & running errands, I wear it across my chest (pictured). The size is small but trust me, it holds a lot!
I do not believe in new years resolutions. I believe we should all strive to be the best version of ourselves every single day (not just starting at the new year). I have some goals and things that I am working on but I don’t use the ‘new years resolution’ label. What are some of y’alls goals? Are they health-related? Career-related? A few of my personal ‘adjustments’ if you will, are 1. Drink more water 2. Take all vitamins 3. Walk for 30 minutes a day 4. Have a better work/personal balance 5. Find a better way to deal with stress. Happy New Year! Let’s make 2021 the best yet!
