I am always looking for the latest & greatest hot tools. I purchased the Dyson Air Wrap a little over one year ago & it has definitely changed the way I do my hair! I was extremely hesitant to take the plunge & splurge on this product but after months of going back and forth, I splurged. After having the Dyson for about six months, my mom was raving about the Revlon One-Step & told me I would love it and had to get one. I thought ‘What is the point of buying the Revlon, I have the Dyson? They do the same thing right?’ but I was wrong. My mom surprised me with a Revlon in the mail & a part of me just wanted to return it because I thought it was a waste of money. With having a classic case of ‘Product Junike’ I kept the Revlon & WOW. Yes, the Dyson & Revlon are extremely similar but also SO different at the same time. My friends had asked me many times if the Dyson was ‘worth it’ & I always said that yes it is a great product but, no I didn’t think it was worth the price, especially considering the Revlon is a fraction of the cost and is the bomb.
Okay, so the Dyson…
COST: This blog is a judge free zone, so no judging about how much I spent (I thought long & hard about this purchase & saved up!) The cost, in my opinion, is CRAZY. It was extremely challenging for me to ‘justify’ spending this much on a hot tool & I really don’t think I ever did justify it. Do I think this is worth the cost – NO! There are many alternatives on the market that will do a similar job. By the time you purchase a blow dryer, curling iron, round brush, etc. you may have spent around the same amount. If you don’t already own all of these tools & you want to own them- the Dyson could be for you!
EASE: This product is very basic & easy to use (thank god because I don’t do complicated). I was surprised by how easy the ‘curling’ attachments were to use because those were what I was most concerned about. The flat brush & round brush attachments are also very user friendly. Having an ‘all in one tool’ has saved me a lot of time! I start with wet hair & blow it dry with the dryer attachment, then I either use the round brush attachment or the curling attachment to style. I love bringing my Dyson with me when I travel because I save room – one tool vs. two and a round brush. I struggle with the whole ‘packing light’ thing so anything helps! I love that the Dyson has the feature to allow you to change the temperature because let’s face it, the majority of us have color-treated hair, and using high heat is a struggle. Side note – pictured above is the Dyson lint remover. Having to use the lint remover depends on how much you use the Dyson. I use the lint remover about once every three months! The first time I needed to use it I had no idea what was going on with my Dyson. It stopped working & had a red flashing light. While experiencing a moment of pure panic (thinking the worst, like is my warranty still active, etc.) a quick Google search told me to use the lint remover & after that, I was ready to roll! I like to think of the Dyson as the Lamborghini of hair tools- you would service your Dyson like your Lamborghini, lol.)
VERSATILITY: Blow dryer, curling iron, hot brush, & round brush all in one definitely makes the Dyson more versatile! I love that you can do anything you would ever want to do to your hair with this single tool!
Now the Revlon…
COST: This is super affordable & does wonders for your hair! This is 100% worth every penny & I would purchase it over and over again!
EASE: Blow dryer & round brush in one – sign me up! When I’m in a hurry, I will let my hair air dry while doing my makeup & finish it off with the Revlon. This REALLY gives you a salon blow out at home (I live for a good blow out – who doesn’t?!) & volume galore. The Dyson’s blow dryer attachment is great because you can get the majority of the water out of your hair, then using the same tool, style it. The one downside of the Revlon is having to blow dry your hair (getting it to the ‘damp’ stage) with your blow dryer & then going in with the Revlon to style – more of a process. Unlike the Dyson, the Revlon does not give you the option to adjust the temperature. This is a game-changer for me because my hair needs lots of love & care and not 400 degrees all the time.
VERSATILITY: This is a one-stop-shop kind of product. What you see is what you get! Unlike the Dyson, the Revlon does one thing- provides a smooth salon-like blowout while creating lots of volume!
The Winner Is…
Well, there is no ‘winner’ here, both are fabulous products that I love! If you are looking for a more affordable option, the Revlon is your pick & if you are okay with splurging & having an ‘all in one’ tool is important to you then take the plunge and go for the Dyson! I enjoy having both & use both multiple times each week. Do y’all own either one of these (or both?!) no shame!
Xoxo, Kayla
