Everyday Summer Makeup Routine

Outfit Details

TOP: Forever21 (Wearing size small- so flattering & the bow is adorable) JEANS: Loft (Wearing size 25 petite- these look great on everyone! My mom has a pair and loves them)

I find myself changing my ‘everyday’ makeup routine quite often. Sometimes I have a new eyeshadow palette I am obsessed with or the weather changes and my skin freaks! As of late, our newest accessory- the mask, has not been helping my case so I have been on the hunt for products that prevent breakouts & help with the appearance of pores. This is my most updated makeup routine for Summer 2020.

Makeup Routine

One- Prime: After completing all skincare, I start with the Tula Brighten Up primer. I love this primer especially during the summer because it’s a gel, which helps smooth and mattifies my pores! If my skin is freaking out and my pores are out of control, I follow the Tula primer with the E.L.F. Pore Less primer (a must if you have problem areas which for me have been 24/7 lately).

Two- Foundation: I have been loving the Clinique Even better Refresh foundation. This foundation is extremely hydrating & lightweight while providing full coverage. I needed to switch up my foundation because of the heat and mask-wearing & this product did not disappoint! (Channeling my inner middle school self with the Clinique – LOL.)

Three- Setting Foundation: I set my foundation with the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish. This powder not only sets your foundation perfectly but smooths & blurs your pores! This is a holy grail product of mine!

Four- Brows: I wish I had beautiful model-like brows but let’s face it, that is not the case! To achieve that look (or at least try), I fill my brows in with the IT Cosmetics Brow Powder followed by the Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel.

Five- Eyes: I apologize in advance for this step being so lengthy! Doing my eyes is hands down my favorite part of my makeup routine! I start by covering my lid with the Mac Paint Pot Primer. This primer keeps my shadow looking flawless all day! I then brush Bobby Brown ‘Ivory’ across my entire lid & up to the brow bone. Followed by Bobby Brown ‘Taupe’ in my crease – I love this color because it is light enough to use every day while also being buildable for a more dramatic look. Then, I pat Too Faced Crystal Whips ‘Pop the bubbly’ using my finger across my entire lid. I love love love this product! I love anything with a sparkle! I top that with Bobby Brown ‘Cement’ also using my finger. I then clean up my crease with ‘taupe’. Side note – What I love about Bobbi Brown’s eyeshadows is that you can purchase each color individually and create a custom palette. A few years back I created one and anytime someone has seen me doing my makeup they ask what the name of my palette is so they can get one – which you can technically get my exact palette but only if you make it custom, so I give them the names of each shadow so they can have their own! I will then curl my lashes & prime with L’Oréal base (another OG product of mine). Recently I have been using the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl & I am loving it! The wand is curved which gives my lashes a nice winged look.

Six- Concealer: I start with the Becca corrector which let me tell you, if you struggle with dark circles, this product will be your new favorite. I then apply my concealer with a beauty blender. The NARS Creamy and Radiant concealer is great year-round because of how hydrating it is & has been an OG of mine for a long time.

Seven- Setting Concealer: Setting your concealer is a must. I use the light colors in the Mac Studio Fix pallet & dampen my beauty blender when applying the product.

Eight- Contour: I have been using the Mac Studio Fix Contour Kit for years- its affordable which is great! I contour with that and then go in with the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer which gives the best glow, especially during summer!

Nine- Blush: I feel like I am constantly changing up my blush. My current blush is the Milani Trio Platte which I have been loving for summer! Blush isn’t a huge deal to me so I tend to go with something that doesn’t break the bank!

Ten- Setting Spray: Depending on what my plans are for the day- I alternate between two setting sprays. If I have a Pilates class or will possibly sweating, I will use the Revolution Sport Fix– this is GOOD. Trust me. For days when I need my makeup to last but do need to use something as ‘heavy-duty’- I use the Farsali Rose Gold Skin Mist which feels SO high-end & you cannot beat the price (& has beautiful packaging)!

Eleven- Lips: Is it just me that has been super dry lately? I find it strange considering I live in a hot & humid climate! I have been rigorously using the Laneige gloss in berry. It gives a nice pink glow & almost acts as a treatment while looking like a nice gloss. I prefer using gloss vs. lipstick in the summertime just because of the consistency and feel while living in extreme heat.

Does anyone else change up their makeup routine for summer?

Xoxo, Kayla
